wallwords.gifBlik and other purveyers of peel and stick wall graphics have been raging for a while now. But we think text is a cool idea, too, and one that is more personal and customizable.

Wallwords is an online service for ordering pre-pasted and pre-spaced transfer letters for walls, wallpaper, windows, mirrors, furniture and metal. The site allows you to order pre-loaded words or sayings or to create your own, specifying typeface, color, finish (matte or glossy), and size.

The letters arrive pre-kerned (spaced) on a tape strip, which you then press against the designated surface and leave in place by peeling away the tape. Burnish and you're done. Wallwords are removable but not reusable. Wallwords' website says most of their preloaded quotes run about $30, although a large-scale custom quote averages about $110.

Word of caution: Wallwords has its share of contrived sentiments; we're thinking of something less maudlin and more Massin.

ooh! ooh! I just ordered a custom one of these from a seller on etsy... for $15 she printed out the title of my art show, which saved me from having to paint it on. It looks amazing! It really looks hand-done. She even customized the font for me to match the show card.

a good idea for this might be on a kids mirror. Art gallery show title sounds great too! Definitely seems user friendly and professional. I feel conflicted about it in a living space.

depends very much on where it is going, but it could be a great idea. i like it much better than most of the other wall stickers. (but then i have a thing for handwriting ...)

barf. i once looked at an apartment for rent that had the words "always remember to kiss me goodnight" next to the lightswitch in the bedroom. AWFUL!

My old bedroom had "PJ is dreaming" on the wall. I couldn't scrape the letters off without wrecking the hard-to-match blue paint. Wall letters seem kinda silly to me.

Again, things that work well in a restaurant aren't always appropriate in the home, unless you're French. Are these not a lot like bumper stickers or billboards? I want the one that says "If I lived here, I'd be home by now, You Rotten Prick.

This is starting to resemble Pokemon.

Prose is the tool of proles.... Well, a fine word can be crafted from a fine mind needless of status.

Etc etc

I quite like the ability to write what I like, when I like - where I like. Try these DecoSticks Wall Stickers for example. Alphabet allow you to writ your own prose, even if you are a prole!
