Any non-designers here ever make their own "decor boards," where you pin up the color and fabric swatches, etc. for a room to see how it all looks together? I want to make one, but (how's this for indecisive?) I'm not sure what is the best kind of board to use. Do you go corkboard? magnetic? Other?

for a somewhat cheap alternative get a double thick board of foam core. Not as reusable as cork, but cheaper.

Hey, I am in Vancouver, BC - our Urban Outfitters is focused only on clothes and doesn't have any of the cool housewares and bed and bath stuff. I am thinking about going to Seattle for the weekend to check out the UO there, are there any other cool shops that I should check out when I am there. Anthropolgie for one, I would assume, (never been there, so I have to check it out.) but what else?? Are there any other funky American shops I should see? West Elm - check....anything I am missing?

the urban outfitters/anthropologie stores are in downtown seattle. check out some of the shops in belltown (alchemy & chartreuse international are my favorites). of course you have to visit velocity art & design! the new store is in the south lake union area, near rei.
i don't think there is a west elm in seattle... you'd have to go to portland for that!

This is your friendly reminder that "The Best of Everything"
screens Thursday Aug 21 at the Castro Theater, at 4:30 and
9:30.
Joan Crawford and Suzy Parker appear, but the real star is the interiors...if you like fabulous 50's styles. This film often appears near the top of many of our decoration inspiration film lists.
