So I've recently moved into a small studio, which I adore, with hardwood floors and lotsa natural light. Problem is, that nice natural light comes from a light well where the neighbors in the next building over are only about 10 feet away from my bed.
With the focus on gardening this month, I was hoping someone could help me with suggestions on what to put there to give some "green" privacy. Outside my twelve feet of window is the roof to the garage. My landlady is a bit nervous about water damage if I put plants there, but I think she'd be swayed if I show her how the drab grey area can be transformed into something beautiful and green. I would love to put bamboo there, but not sure how it would do in a planter.
Thanks so much,

There are bamboo varieties for different climes and bamboo definitely can thrive in a planter. I think you would just have to find one suitable for your conditions.
As for water damage...as long as you have a non-draining basin underneath your planter, you should be fine.
Thanks JenPDX! Googled it and it looks like there's a bamboo nursery in Sebastapol, so I guess I'll take a look when I'm up there next.
Cheers,
