My cousin gave me some upholstery grade fabric that I'd like to use for throw pillow covers, but I can't sew! Can anyone recommend a good, reputable and affordable seamstress in SF or the mid-penisula? Thanks for the help!

new question: i'm trying to find these sweet curtains from a movie; it's the film wicker park with diane kruger (i wish i had a screenshot) and in it, she has these slightly sheer curtains in black and white (or maybe brown and white) in this barnwood/tree print, sorta like this: http://www.walltowallwallpaper.com/AV68042.jpg
anyone seen anything like this?

Anyone know of any good lampshade sources in SF or East Bay? I just had a vintage table lamp redone and I can't find a shade to fit it anywhere I've looked. It's bigger than most small table lamps and smaller than most medium lamps made today. I tried Pottery Barn and Lamps Plus on Geary. Also a few google searches. All were a wash.
Thanks!

There's an excellent lamp place on West Portal Ave., in West Portal, SF. I don't recall the name of the place but they can answer everything you'd ever want to know about lamps. They are south of Peet's Coffee on West Portal.

Madeline, check out you local dry-cleaners. They typically have seamstresses on staff or can make a recommendation. Also the nicer fabric stores are a good resource, but they can be a little pricier.
Vanessa, I would try Target. I knowit sounds crazy, but they have a fairly goos selection. That place in West Portal is good, too.

I've never thought of finding a seamstress through the dry cleaners. Thanks for the tip Simon!
