I submitted this dilemma as a “Good Question” this morning, but I figured I might post on the open thread as well.

My boyfriend and I received a really great espresso machine and grinder as a gift. They are both quite large. The Expobar Office Control is 15.25”H x 9.5”W x 16.5”D and the Mazzer Mini Grinder is 16.5”H x 7”W x 11”D.

We have a decent-sized kitchen, but no counter space for these two large machines. I would like to find a bar or console table that we can rig as a simple espresso bar, of sorts, in our kitchen. We have a fairly large open wall where a tall bar table currently lives.

We would like it to have enough counter space to comfortably fit the machines and allow a bit of room for preparing drinks, and perhaps some lower storage (shelving at the very least). We’re hoping to find something in the $200-$300 range, but are flexible.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers - K

Kari, what dimensions are you looking for? There are a lot of great console tables out there, esp on CB@ and overstock.com right now, but since it's going in yor kitchen, you could probably just make do with a regular kitchen cart. They've got great ones at ikea, and there's always a ton on craigslist.

ISO flooring options, very low budget, long wearing and pet friendly (i.e., their claws won't show damage), preferably something I can install myself (so that means low off-gassing because I have asthma), and that I can use continuously (which means in the wet zones like kitchen and bath as well). I love wood, and bamboo (don't understand the differences), and cork (how does that wear with pets???), wonder if anyone has tried the IKEA wood-based flooring or are there better options available? I've researched so many, maybe too many, that I'm completely overwhelmed and still don't feel like I have good answers - choices - or resources (SF Bay Area).

Installing over uneven concrete slab foundation, probably some old linoleum, I can patch dips but probably wouldn't choose to resurface the concrete.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Clarifying my comment bamboo (don't understand the differences): when they're talking about horizontal vs. vertical grain in bamboo flooring
