A dumb question having nothing to do with AT, but I'm sure someone here knows the answer.

If the carpool hours are not in effect, like on Saturday, but there are 3 of us, is it still ok to go on the bus/carpool overpass that gets you closer to the bridge toll plaza on Hwy 80?

Just curious. I don't see why it wouldn't be ok...

Is the "comment" counter only working sometimes? Often it seems there is a comment but the number still shows zero?

Yup, we're still working on the comment counter fix.

regarding car pool lane:

I believe that outside of the stated hours, the lane is bus only. The fine in super expensive if you use the overpass unlawfully, so I would advise against a trial and error approach to learning. I'm pretty sure that outside of carpool hours, no cars are to use the overpass.

I know what overpass you're talking about - the first one in the left lane of south/westbound 80 right after the Emeryville exits. I would think that overpass would be fine outside of M-F carpool hours.

The 511.org website agrees with me, and in fact states that outside of carpool times, HOV lanes are for general traffic use.

The issue of the second overpass to the very, very right (north) which take you to the special toll booths to the right - that's where you might run into trouble.

Not sure if this is already old news, but SF Business times is reporting CB2, Crate and Barrel's more urban sibling, will be opening a store in Union Square at 30 Ellis.
