the smallest bedroom in my house is 6 feet wide and 11 feet long. when i came to look at this place, my realtor walked past the room thinking it was a closet.

since there are only 4 SMALL closets in the house, i turned it into a dressing room!

i have wire shelving from Rubbermaid over the rail system for my hats and handbags and my cousin gave me an old desk that i turned into a vanity table on the other wall.

i LOVE it!

I LOVE that armoire. I wish my closet had more space in it so I could display all of my shoes and my nice clothes.

i live in a loft with 1 roommate, and i think he has a really clever way of organizing his clothes and creating privacy- he used a clothing rack paired with a bench and some small tables to make a room divider that doubles as his closet. he keeps it really neat and it is pretty tall so it works really well as both.

I have two french art deco mirrored closets from a flea market, very pretty I think. One with railing for my posh stuff, one with shelving for the rest. Oh and they each have a big bottom drawer too. I have them facing eachother so it's like a big dressing room in there...so much better than the inherited fake wood prefab I used to own...

I have an old wardrobe my dad bought at a furniture restoration place. There are no built-ins in our house. It's wooden, two doors, with two big drawers at the bottom. It's pretty but massive, am thinking of down sizing as my room is not that large.

On the shoes end, I just use a small shoe rack. It holds about 10 pairs of shoes. My boots just sit next to it and I keep one pair of shoes in the landing area in the living area to make it more accessible. I have no use for more shoes than that.

I LOVED my walk in closet. I have a built-in dresser, hanging rack, shelves, row of hooks on the opposite wall for all of my scarves (flip flops in the summer).

However, since starting my own business I use it to store materials. Although everything is organized and neat... it's not my closet anymore. Feels cramped and ugly now.

rouquinne, you need to send in a picture of that dressing room! I have 2 6ft. closets with sliding doors. For an alcove studio, I think this is a fantastic amount of storage. One closet has 2 sets of rods and built in shelves. I use this to store the stuff I wear everyday. The other closet has one long rod that I use for dresses and coats on one end and a hanging laundry basket and shoe storage on the other. It's time to purge some of what's in there to make it look neater.

I have a smallish walk-in closet, and I'm installing some shelves for my shoes on the back wall.

For years I've wanted to give my clothes a proper home in a beautiful antique armoire, and while I could certainly afford one, my ceilings are too damn low to accommodate even a relatively short one. Grrr.

Walk-in closet. I'm petite (ok, short) so I can use the central space as a dressing room. I have a full length mirror on the back wall, double hanging shelves on one side, and a short length of high hanging shelf on the other for long dresses, kimono, etc. Past that (near the door) is an old console table. My suitcases are stored underneath and my jewelry boxes (I collect -- so I have several BIG ones) are on top, with a nice mirror. There are some racks on the wall that hold necklaces, too. Works for me...
