Octopus Earring Stand from Urban Outfitters

9-26-08-uo-earring-stand.jpg

We kind of wish we'd never blogged about an earring stand from Urban Outfitters before (but alas, we have), because this would be the standout one we'd pick above all others, on the basis of how unique it is.

We'd love to see a "nautical" themed room designed around something like this, as it evokes the darker, more mystical, and ultimately more interesting side of ocean themes. We'd take silvery octopuses with jewels dripping from their tentacles over lighthouses, anchors and rope any day.

The octopus is the new deer/bird/"insert name of small, twee animal here".

I don't like the idea of leaving jewelry out where it can get dusty, but I'm imagining this earring stand under a bell jar on my dresser. I like it.

WOW, the bell jar idea is actually genius! I loose/forget about jewlery i cannot see, but sterling tarnishes so fast exposed to the air.

Where in the NYC area can we find bell jars? I have no idea where to begin looking.

the metal on those is not well tempered. More of them bend and break in store than are sold, and half of the ones that are sold are returned because they broke off the stands before people got them home.
