Last month we slinked to a video tour of Lotta Jansdotter's Brooklyn studio. While we were engaged by her story of how she started her business, we couldn't help but notice the clever organizing systems in the background.

We love the clipboard collage against the brick wall as an alternative to file folders -- contents of all kinds and sizes held tightly by the clip, but clearly visible and spread out among multiple categories.

We wish we knew what the original function of this wire frame -- for it seems clearly repurposed -- that Lotta is using to hold multiple copies of her book Simple Sewing. We might not have our own books published like Lotta does, but we'd use our version to hold Apple photo albums.

We think the containers pictured above are ceramic plant pots, cleverly holding notecards and notepads on a roomy desk. Finally, we loved these little vignettes from her studio, unrelated to organizing:

i saw the clipboard thing on "ace of cakes" a while back and have utilized it in my 3 year-old's room. it's GREAT for holding up his artwork, and it's easy to change the look.

We use a clipboard system in the department of corrections to hold schedules and to pass on information from shift to shift. there's nails hanging them on the wall too.

The wire thing looks like it was originally a rack for vinyl LP records.

I really like the small clipboards...I'll totally do that. But the three mugs in a row is a bit contrived.

I do something similar with binder clips on the inside of my closet door--to organize bills and things I need to file.

Of course the mug vignette is contrived. Another word might be "thoughtful."

Her studio is also a shop on the weekends. So I'm guessing the multiple mugs are arranged/grouped like that because they are on display for sales.
