Riddling Racks by Vintage at Heart

3-17-riddling rack.jpgNot long ago we updated our Best Wine Racks -- and already it's time to update it again.

We love the handcrafted wood Riddling Racks at Vintage at Heart. Made from repurposed oak, the texture, the age, the small cracks, splits, and knots in the wood all give them character. Here we show the double-sided 120-bottle version, but there are several sizes available, single- and double-sided.

As AT:SF reader m wrote, A cool way to store your wines without taking up a lot of space.

$175-$699, here.

Thanks, m!

I thought you weren't supposed to tip wines toward the cork. But it's entirely possible that I don't know what I'm talking about.

Riddling racks are really for use in the process of making champagne and sparkling wines, to force sediment upward, not long-term storage of regular wine.

Normal wine storage keeps the bottle more horizontal so the cork stays moist, but the sediment stays low on the bottle.

This is a little embarrassing to admit, but I just saw these used as a wine rack on Color Splash, that HGTV show. He put one of these is a niche they already had, it looked pretty cool actually.

Not a good location for a wine rack- wine should be stored in dim and dark areas as light can destroy the bouquet.
