Sliding Door Media Stand from West Elm

7-29-08-media-cabinet.jpg

West Elm has apparently taken a page from MASH Studios' LAX series with their version of this media cabinet, which sports one sliding door to share across a two-sided cabinet, for slightly cheaper than the original.

While the design is pretty to look at, we'd have to keep the inside shelves pretty tidy and visually appealing, thus negating some of the point of closed storage. But we're glad to have more options out there.

$600 at West Elm.

$600? Give me a break. I was just at IKEA Red Hook yesterday, and there's very little difference in the quality of the wood furniture. West Elm is about a "look"--from far away. It just doesn't look very expensive up close, so why pay more?
