Weekend Project: Picnic Table

When we were just starting our home renovation, we were living in a tent with only a functioning toilet in our home. No kitchen, no bedroom and certainly no place to eat. We sat in camp chairs in our backyard and ate pizza from paper plates balanced on our knees. It was fun... for a minute. But what we really craved at the end of the day was a simple and easy place to sit down, have a meal and relax before passing out.

We ended up buying a table at Home Depot. The wood alone would have put us up near the sticker price of $90, but then when you add in the hardware we could have easily pushed $150.

We grabbed a can of sealer, coated all of the pieces twice, let them dry and put together our table in less than an afternoon. It's sturdy, simple, well-built and big enough for a nice sized backyard bbq. Excellent purchase in our humble opinion.
