The Green Cherry gardens, many of which are in the Napa area, all seem to feature whimsical touches and unexpected design principles. One wine-themed garden has a border made out of the bottoms of bottles and a lovely curved bench constructed from wine barrels. In another courtyard, a giant giraffe's head emerges from the side of a cabana. Garden beds surrounding a super-modern house are laid out in a checkerboard pattern (third photo above); the varied textures and heights of the plants enhance and interrupt the pattern, creating a beautiful tension between the structured layout and the organic forms.
If you're still working on sprucing up your garden space as Outdoor Month winds to a close, check out the Emmanuel Donval's portfolio for some eye candy. Maybe the photos will inspire a weekend project!

I loved the innovative garden wall.

Fun space! I like the giraffe and painted patio.

that wall has far too much metal surface for my taste - it doesn't really look like a garden to me (and i wouldn't like to sit next to a shipwreck :-D )

The black and white deck is truly unique! I don't think I've ever seen one like this before. I hope it starts a fun new trend! If I wasn't a renter, I would go outside and goof around with my own patio.

They're all nice, but my favorite is the third garden. The checkerboard design of the squares with plants and squares without has geometric appeal.
