Porch Makeover On A Budget

01_06.25.09_porch.jpgThe famous saying that one person's trash is another person's treasure is very much true especially in larger cities where just walking on a sidewalk can prove to be a wonderful way to find great items for your home or a garden. Many renters also leave behind items that they no longer want when they move. Katy from Oakland California resurrected two folding chairs that were left on her porch by previous tenants. She sent us pictures of her porch with the new decor. More photos after the jump...

The chairs have a nice mosaic back rests, but needed to be sanded and repainted. She used a paint-scrubber and a coarse sandpaper. Afterwards she spray-painted them in a teal green which was close to the original color. The succulent that you see in a picture she found in her backyard. She repotted it into a ceramic container that was left behind by previous tenants. Two red stools were a street find and all they needed was a fresh coat of paint. The porch looks much different. The cost of the makeover was minimal and it is now a great place to hang out and relax.

What sweet chairs - great job! People throw away the darnedest things, don't they?

These chairs are so cute. I wonder if a good DIY project would yield close to the same result?
