Oyster Tins for Flower Arranging

2409oystercans1.jpgWe love to use repurposed tins for flower arrangements. Lately, oyster tins have been our favorites. They’re fun for fans of vintage typography, and the faded colors are a nice complement to bouquets with a lot of greenery. See more examples after the jump...

Tins hide messy stems and murky water; that doesn’t mean you don’t have to change the water and give your stems a fresh trim! Still, the camouflage is useful when you’re arranging a couple of days ahead for a party, or when you’re using stems that emit sap, like milkweeds.

Oyster tins are plentiful on ebay. Because they’re collectibles, they’re not as cheap as you might imagine, and some of them are downright pricey. But last we checked, there were quite a few with starting bids under $10, like those pictured above.
