Before & After: Flokati Rug + Vintage Bench

Before

Rather than send this bench and rug to the Outbox, this blogger decided to combine and transform the two into a revitalized piece greater than the sum of its parts. Both items had thier share of issues: the Ikea Flokati rug had a shedding problem and attracted the, ahem, unwanted attention of her dog. The bench's vinyl was cracking, and languished out of sight in a guest bedroom. But together....

After

...they make a chic fuzzy bench. The impromptu upholstery project was just small enough to be accomplished using the clean section of the rug. For the complete step-by-step of how she did it, visit The Brick House.

My cat would love that.

It almost looks like an animal with its 4 little legs there.

Hmmm - All it needs is two eyes and a tail...

I feel like it could use a tail. Maybe some tusks?

Nice DIY job, though!

Very cool. I dig it.
The flokati from ikea is the worst. It shed so much that we just left ours in the basement when we moved out. Now I wish I had it back so I could get creative with it like this!

Aww, I love it! Watch out though, your dog may love it too... and pay it, um, attentions of a different sort. But seriously, I like flokatis but can't deal with the upkeep (especially since we have cats)... so this is like a nicely contained little dose. And I love that it looks very crisp and well-upholstered despite all the fuzz... good work!

And the dog will be less interested in in now, because...? If anything you might have made it even more appealing!

Cute bench, though.

Cute bench but...

does the shedding problem mean anyone who sits here will have white hairs all over their butt when they get up?

I like it before and after. The color of the bench is great.

Good job.

Great idea! What a quick update! Ideas are already floating around now... you could almost use any rug that you want to fit any style in a quick snap. Nice!
