Inspiration: More Black Walls

6-23-black1.jpg
We hadn't really realized so many brave people have painted (or wallpapered) their walls black until we started searching... If these rooms weren't enough to talk you into moving on over to the dark side (can't you just hear Darth Vader's voice when you read that?), we've come up with some more pics to entice you...

OK, well, gray and black...

Is this gray?

This one is, but still...

Still not sure? Check out more black walls on Desire to Inspire and MyNottingHill.

Bravo! I love dark walls. Mine are a deep gray. I would have loved to have gone darker, but the DW got very nervous. Can't wait to show her these pics. Thanks.

Ian...I wonder if that could be achieved with chalkboard paint.

I LOVE black walls! Although I settled on Charcoal for my tiny space.

I think it is very dramatic but I feel like I could not breath living in these interiors..if I had a city apartment as a second home then yeah..having black walls in my main residents would be sufficating.. perhaps a powder room or a dining room to start with.

BM paint has Gentlemans Grey that is almost black with a deep blue tone
that is stunning as an accent wall.. a big wide wall with height is great, or a 1/2 bath powder room would be a way to use..it looks great with natural dark woods.

Black walls are really neat and the contrast they provide is really nice too. I was lucky to get free range over the decoration of a teenager's room last year and I gave her two black walls:
one with a D-I-Y wall tattoo (http://m2jlstudio.com/Misc/blackwall02.jpg)
and another one was an entire wall of blackboard paint (http://m2jlstudio.com/Misc/blackwall03.jpg). She absolutely loved it!

I'm thinking about painting some of my office walls black as well... it's addictive :)

That first wall is gorgeous. I love all the white a and bits of green. Would that be matte paint base with stenciling in gloss paint?

We did black/charcoal walls in my bedroom and they came out very nicely....

The headboard wall was done using RL suede paint base -- but then just used one of the black color formulas... and the side walls were done in a lighter charcoal color by hand-mixing white suede base primer with one of their greys that store-mixed for us (and way too dark for what we wanted) We made sure to keep all the leftovers in case of touch up.

The bedroom looks great in full sunlight, and it's also very nice and super-dark at bedtime. A pair of red silk pendants hovering over each of the nightstands makes it all sorts of cozy.

I've been dying to paint my new bathroom balck but everyone thinks I'm nuts. Glad I'm not alone.

I'm using Benjamin Moore paint - any thoughts on a good black or very very dark grey?

Jonathan adler has a great new wall paper collection that features 2 patterns in black:

and

Also any of their patterns can be ordered with any Benjamin Moore color as a ground. I've used the scroll pattern on a project and it looked lovely.

I have a couch almost exactly like the red velvet one in the picture above! Thanks for the pictures... I'm now convinced that my couch will look even better in front of a black wall.

I was in an old painted lady a while back. The owners of the house painted the kitchen (!) walls black, the trim white, and had replaced the wood cupboards with open shelving painted to match the white trim. They had vintage light pink dishware on display. It was completely gorgeous.

1sttimemommy, if I am not mistaken, babies see in black and white the first few months of life anyway, why not? There are plenty of ways to stimulate the childs mind and eyes, you can use many accents and pictures, toys, things to touch...many, many things. It is your nursery too....remember that!
