Simple Solutions

4-3-simple.jpgNot long ago, Casapinka wrote about simple solutions. It was about those little things that annoy you, such as keys getting lost, and how the simple solution of a beautiful bowl to house those keys makes such a difference.

We love those small, simple solutions that just make things easier. Years ago, organizing work projects by color was one of those. Then came the carabiner-type keychain that attaches to the strap of our bag so that we're not always fumbling for our keys. Our most recent simple solution was putting casters on our mother's cedar chest that resides in our apartment. It was inexpensive, very easy to do, and it made a huge difference in being able to move a heavy, awkward piece of furniture around a small space. And it looks better, too.

Are there simple solutions that you've come up with that really made life easier for you? Do tell.

(This isn't the caster we used, but isn't it great? See our Top 10: Funky Casters.)

This may be a dumb question, but is there a way to put casters on without hurting the furniture?

Mjoe. For an old chest or something like that, you can cut a piece of MDF or plywood slighly smaller than the actual piece and attach the casters to that. Then, you can set the piece onto the castered wood. If you don't know how to get it to move around without tugging on the fragile object itself, you can add a strap to the rolly-part (it can be removable).
