Stainless steel appliances may be trendy, but we honestly like the sleek, industrial look. And if you're stuck with oh-so-lovely avocado or mustard colored appliances, or ugly counters, you may be happy to hear that you can buy stainless steel film to give your appliances, counters, and backsplash the look of stainless steel.
Although it doesn't fall into the Reversible Decor category, this SoftMetal Faux Stainless Steel Film is something to think about if you own, or if your landlords are somewhat laissez-faire.

To make the treatment reversible maybe you could affix it to contact paper first and then apply it to desired surface.
For smaller projects, Stainless steel contact paper is available at Home Depot and Ace Hardware, etc., for about $10 a roll. I believe it's 12" X 9'
This is a pretty good idea. I'd imagine the final outcome would depend on the care taken when applying but it looks like it could really bring an old kitchen (or other room) back to life. Cool find.
