Before and After: Danny Seo's Reupholstered Dog Stairs

before
More often than not, pet furniture is pretty hideous. Although we've seen some great exceptions to the rule this month on AT, we just have to think about the typical cat post, hamster maze, or dog crate to induce a cringe. But we love this reinvention of the generally heinous pet stairs, as conceived by the always-creative Danny Seo.

How chic! We don't even have a dog and we kinda want them. Best of all, it was all done on the cheap with recycled materials.

the setting doesn't help either. I bet if this were in some country modern chic home, people would gush over it.

ha ! i agree with the first comment!

don't have a pet, so forgive the Q - but why does it have to be upholstered? i'm thinking a nice set of wooden stairs would look better (and be cleaner) than all that carpet.

These things do triple duty as stairs, scratching spots for cats and flea condos.

My cats' kitty sofa had good lines, but the beige/tan color scheme finally got to me.

Three months ago I dug up some red/gold upholstery material and re-covered it. Now it matches my living room carpet and looks like a cute miniature sofa instead of ugly pet furniture.

Wow... I don't know why you are constantly blogging about Danny Seo. It's not particularly "green" and it's absolutely hideous.

I don't get this at all.
In the before pic you can see the pillows that are in the room and you can also see the bedspread(s). The stairs match the color much more nicely in the before pic. The after is just, um, hideous.

And why is there tulle over that basket?

seaside, usually whenever i read or hear something funny, i think to myself "that's funny", sometimes i even say it out loud, but barely ever do i laugh when not in company. you just had me laugh so hard that my cat woke up.
