Etsy Find: Bow Wow Beds

100709bowwow1.jpgThere must be some kind of law stating that a dog bed must offend either the dog owner's wallet or her taste, or both. Pet owners among you will no doubt be familiar with this timeworn bed dilemma. Well at long last we've come across a line of beds that blatantly defies the law: Bow Wow Beds are (gasp!) both affordable and attractive...

Made of super-durable, machine-washable cotton duck canvas, Bow Wow dog bed covers will appeal to minimalists... no paw-print fabric or fuzzy fake fur here. Instead the covers are simple canvas shams, personalized with a military-style stencil of your dog's name. So cute!

The design of these is smart; owners with dogs who like to chew will appreciate the lack of zippers or velcro. You can use pillows to stuff them, or layers of foam, or even an old dog bed whose cover has long since bit the dust... whatever your pooch finds most comfortable.

The Bow Wow bed covers range from $15 for a chihuahua size to $44 for a great dane size. If you want to know more about the husband-and-wife team that makes them, check out their interview on The Storque.

Nice beds... now I just have to convince the dog to sleep there and not in our bed!

we have a pet futon for our dog. it's like this, but without the stencil and it comes with the "stuffing"- a wool dog-sized futon. she loves it. and it's a great price. all machine washable.

Awesome. Double kudos for cute, sleepy puppies that make me want to curl up next to them!

Elvira, do you have a source for yours? i'm debating getting costco dogbeds and these covers because, indeed, these are *much* easier on my eyeballs.

I like that this is just a cover, and they are attractive (as are the pups--oh, Zhivago!). For my dogs I made covers myself, plain rectangles like these in solid fabrics that are durable and match the house. I put a zipper at one end, but you could do envelope style, buttons, etc. too. Then I stuff them with an old comforter or two from Goodwill. Very cheap, and everything's washable. I hated how our old foam or other stuffing type ones always got smelly eventually (they are used heavily), and even washing the cover and airing the bed outside didn't totally fix the problem.

I just got one of these for my older dog, Sam. It's only a couple of weeks old, but it seems very durable. I prefer it to the beds I used to have because I provide the "stuffing" (so I can change it out easily if it's damaged or worn out, unlike those foam-filled bags in most beds). Right now, two standard pillows fit inside the large size perfectly. The old beds (from TJ Maxx) also were not machine-washable. Of course I washed them anyway, but you could tell they wouldn't last long.

The only issue I had is that I had to wait a long time for shipping -- a month between the order and the bed's arrival -- because the seller has to order the fabric after the Etsy order is placed and then makes the bed after it arrives. So allow for extra time to receive it.

I was about to order one of these a couple of months ago but was turned off when I saw I had to pay $6 to ship, essentially, a pillow case (chihuahua size). C'mon! I know I can send a padded envelope across the country for around a dollar... I will still probably order one some day... I plan to stick a piece of memory foam inside

We purchased two of these a couple years ago for our greyhound (since passed away). The construction, aesthetics, and price were SO much better then the beds in the stores. Ours holds four pillows each, to make a very big bed for cheap!

My only complaint is that the stencil came off after one or two washes.

They are packed away until we are ready for our next grey.

No fair displaying a big dog face just to make me click on the post! I don't have a dog, don't need a dog bed. But my love for dogs almost qualifies as a fetish.
