Felted Pet Sculptures by Amelia Santiago

This has got to be one of the more incredible Etsy finds ever. Amelia Santiago creates custom, 3-dimensional likenesses of your pet out of felt. Amazing.

Santiago is based in Porltand, Oregon, and her love of animals, background in art, and the apparent pleasure in the felting and portraiture process have coalesced on Etsy in this impressive collection of felted pets.

Even if such an object is not to our taste, we have to give to give tons of respect to this artist for her skill, and the incredibly unique concept and execution. And if this does tickle one's fancy? Here you go. Wow. Just wow.

That last photo is hilarious!

Etsy seller Intimate Forest does the same thing, but mostly with cats. Sculptural felting is amazing!

While I am not commenting on the skill of the artist, the idea of felted pets skeeves me out the same way that people who have their dead pets stuffed & mounted bothers me.

I also found the top photo especially creepy.

Again, not a comment on the artist's talent or skill, just the choice of medium.

I also find them creepy. I must admit, however, the last photo (The cat with the felted cat) looks cuter than the others. I agree with tailfin on the top photo being the creepiest.

I didn't care for the felted red necklace, but the pets are beautiful, not creepy. She really captures the personality of each animal. love those cats, especially

Aw. I think they're cute. Maybe I should have one done for my dear departed Daphne.

I think they are totally cool- art, expensive art, but art.

I had commissioned her to make a felted likeness to a dog my parents dearly loved, but had to give away. It came out absolutely adorable, and not creepy at all. Especially since it's so tiny. Oh yeah, and my parents love it.
