Corbu Stencils

corbu stencil.jpgWe love these metal Corbu Stencils but we haven't figured out just what to do with them yet. We're thinking of creating some sort of art with the metal stencils themselves. Hanging them on the wall? Propping them on a ledge somewhere? Forming words or just nonsensical babble? The possibilities are endless.

The letters and numbers were designed by Le Corbusier. The stencils are made in France, and are available in seven sizes, from 5 mm ($30) to 60 mm ($55). They're sold at Peter Miller Details.

these are great...I love the idea of hanging them on the wall, or how about putting them on a ledge with candles behind them to illuminate the letter?

how big are the sheets? I'm assuming it's the character that is 5mm, etc...?

The stencils come in various sizes. When I was in Architecture school in NY in the late 70's/early 80's we were taught by professors who gretaly admired Le Corbusier's work and using these stencils were the right touch on presentation drawings. Unfortunately, most people don't actually draw any longer, so they have become obsolete.
