Sifting through the stacks of tissue boxes at our local drug store has kind of become an OCD habit of ours. There's got to be box with a decent design on it out there somewhere, right? So far in our quest the answer is no, but we did find these tissue box covers (along with pillows, bags and other well-designed accessories) from Yokomono in prints that are a welcome replacement for the offending boxes underneath.
The covers are a nice added oomph towards pulling a room together. And bonus, no more wading through boxes and boxes of tacky tissue art. We're also loving the equally handsome pillows, all available at the

yeah, im the same way. ill dig through the shelves to find the least ugly of them all.

saving this link as a favorite. What a nifty idea for a housewarming or hostess gift.

for very picky ones: a) you will not be that picky when you're sick and need a tissue asap; b) if you still are, Kleenex lets you make a custom box of tissues from your photo.

These are cute. Growing up, we had a similar soft cover for the small box tissues that was a house and the chimney was the dispenser.

Target house brand has some pretty bland and decor friendly tissue boxes. No geese or sunflowers.

I pick up a few boxes of Kleenex Expressions each month at Target. Some of the designs are better than others. Here they are on Amazon.

I just went to the Kleenex website. Apparently there are people out there who feel that the best way to say "Happy Valentine's Day" is with a box of tissues. Perhaps it's meant as an accompaniment to a cry-worthy awesome gift or better yet, the old Valentine's Day, "Dear Baby, Welcome to Dumpsville. Population: you. And a box of tissues."
That said, I'm not sure I'm down with dressing up my tissues. Reminds me of my Grandma's. A kind of hip grannie, but a grannie nonetheless.

If someone could find a nice plian wooden tissue box cover, I would be eternally grateful.
Maybe bamboo or something...

allsong, my mom found a very simple bamboo tissue box cover at Target for me. I don't see it on their website now but it might be worth checking your store. Also, stores like Michael's sell plain wooden ones you can paint or cover with contact paper.

Wow, what a great find! Just checked out Yokomono's Etsy shop and they've got some great bags to go with the tissue covers and pillows. They're very reasonably priced too. Thanks AT!!!

I confess -- I love tissue box covers. I have some cute lacquered ones from Japan, and birch wood ones made in one of the Soviet republics. And a wonderful, plain, unfinished wood one, Alisong. I got it at a Japanese gift shop in Japan town (in San Jose). It's made out of that soft, fine-grained wood that gift boxes for fine Japanese ceramics are made of. For some reason, the Japanese love tissue box covers, but here is a funny Chinese one:

and a Japanese one;

I like these! Hard tissue box covers, like the wood ones, always look so bland, like something you'd see in a lobby. These feel homey but not frumpy.
