Fabric and Pillows from Flowie

7-21-08 flowie fabric.jpegWhile we like our fair share of girlie stuff (we are recent converts to the color pink), we very much don't want our home to ever feel cloyingly sweet. So we've found that striking a balance between pretty lovely things and a minimalist sensibility keeps everything in check...

And it seems that Flowie designer Yaling Hou comes from the same school of thought. Her work consists of patterns of flowers, simply rendered then screen-printed onto linen and cotton. We like it because it marries the beauty of floral art with a minimalist aesthetic, so nothing comes off as too saccharine. The fabric would work great in a number of areas, but we like the idea of using it for curtains or a summery tablecloth.
