Minimal Candle Holder at Rockett St. George

2-23-09-candle-holder.jpg

This simple, elegant design harkens back to old-fashioned candle holders, the ones with a little loop for your finger. It would make an understated part of an evening tablescape, or romantic addition to the bedside.

We're not sure what the material is, but we'd guess it's powder-coated metal bent from a single laser-cut sheet. In that sense, it also reminds us of those little badges you get at museums sometimes, to fold over your collar.

IKEA needs to jump on this [the design].

I'm sorry, but when I saw this candle holder, my first thought was that this was the back view of a fold over "button" like they give you at the Met Museum or an old political button.

But, it is simple & elegant and reasonable practical, too.

This kind of thing makes me crazy. Function first! The wax will run down the side of the candle and then onto your hand or table.

Pretty, but unusable.
