Look closely... Do you see what's unusual about this candle and holder?

Produced by the design duo Ontwerp, the candle is a wax holder and candle fused together. As the candle burns down, the two separate objects melt down to one.
Available in black or white. $24 at Hermitage (shipping's available if you're not in Portland).
that is insanely brilliant, if yer askin' me.

How is it brilliant at all? The entire "candle holder" part of it would never melt, you'd just have to throw it out at the end. So you pay about 20 times what you would pay for a normal candle, for a candle that only burns 50% of its wax.
Blah. Back to the drawing board, fellas.

meh, it'd be cooler if it was an oil filled pewter holder

more importantly, is it really made out of tallow?
if so, does it smell like bacon or a nice T-bone when you burn it?
if so, I want one!

I agreee with DahliaCactus...it would be awesome if it were refillable!

Won't you need a candle holder for your um candle holder? Would be very cool if refillable pewter holder. Color is good though.

The look is cool but you'll need a candle holder anyway, and the price is quite insane.
I come out: I really don't like candles, incense et similia. Ok, some are more environmentally friendly than others, but I'm also worried about air quality in a room where candles have been burning for hours.

I've seen these several times before in various styles...like the candle and candle stick variety for much less expensive. Especially with the wax 'candle stick', it always seemed to me you'd still need a plate under it to catch the wax drips. Plus, the wax drips would eventually go so far down they'd ruin the effect.
