apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Tina Frey Designs

7-18-08 tina frey.jpgIf we were in Portland this weekend, we'd make sure to head to the Modern Economy Sale for lots of great independent designers' wares at major markdowns. While there we'd make sure not to miss Tiny Frey's beautiful works of sculpted resin.

Alas we won't be able to make it, but luckily her vases, trays, and bowls are stocked at several stores around the bay area, too. The work reminds us of one of our all time favorites, Dinosaur Designs, but has more of a hand-crafted feel. We wish more artists were working in this medium - we find the natural glow of resin designs to be really appealing.

resin is super toxic to work with. it might be good that more artists are not working with it.

Martha Sturdy is the mother of all this resin work -- she has been working with it for decades.

Thanks to Lily for noticing my resin work! I love the beautiful translucent colors that resin can have. With the proper training, facilities, and care working with resin, it is a very safe material. I am also truly in awe of work by Martha Sturdy and Dinosaur Designs! They are such an inspiration!
