Dos Chicas' Barbara Flower Carrier

2-21-flowercarrier.jpg
We were immediately intrigued when we saw the Barbara Flower Carrier. We try to buy fresh flowers every week at the farmer's market near our house, because we love the seasonal selection and, of course, that we're supporting another local grower.

What we don't love is putting the flowers in with all of the fresh produce we picked up, because we worry about breaking the stems and, honestly, because "flower water" dripping onto our food grosses us out a little. At the same time the free hand required for the newspaper-wrapped flower bundle just often isn't there. The Barbara Flower Carrier seemed like it could be a brilliant solution.

But at $61 it's a little expensive for our tastes, especially considering it's such a uni-tasker. It looks to us like a simple cone and strap made out of oilcloth, so we're thinking of making one ourselves next time we get the sewing machine out.

Available from BuyOlympia.com for $61.

I made my son a thing like this for his arrows for his Robin Hood costume. Oil cloth, scissors and a stapler and 5 minutes.

This is such a great idea and takes less than $5.00 worth of oilcloth.

And with my $5.00 worth of oilcloth, I can pick my own pattern.

While I know that's just a photo, you don't really think those roses are from a local grower, right?

As the designer of this bag, I can tell you it works wonderfully. It is also lined with oilcloth on the inside. I make everything one at a time, hand made. Thanks for posting my Barbara! cheers---angela for dos chicas
