There's something so satisfying about planting your own little garden from seed and watching the tiny seedlings grow to full-size plants. On the other hand, it can be a bit like watching paint dry if you want instant satisfaction. If you're of the latter sort, Domino has a great slideshow of a fast (3 month) backyard transformation.
Of course, you have to be willing to plunk down a few extra buckaroos for the larger sized plants according to this plan. We went for smaller versions of some of the suggested plants in our own garden and even the bitsy babies are growing at rapid speed. The slideshow has some great suggestions for mixing plants to create texture and interesting color combinations...
