Look!: Ranunculus

4-7-08 ranunculus.jpgRanunculus are in season here in California, and we couldn't be more thrilled. We saw this gorgeous bouquet the other day and felt inspired not only by the beauty of the flowers, but the color combination as well.

It may not come off completely in the picture but the ranunculus were in shades of peach, orange, and yellow, with other flowers (anyone know the types?) in deep magenta (much more purple than pink) and white. We're working on our bedroom and would like to try and translate the bouquet into our decor. Right now we're thinking white for the major pieces (walls and duvet), but with accents in the other colors (perhaps slightly muted) to keep it from feeling saccharine. Any thoughts?

My favorite flower! Sadly, they are hard to find here in NYC and when I do find them, they are quite pricey.

I've grown some in the flower bed for the last few years. They're very easy to grow. The bulbs aren't expensive. I think I paid $3.99 for 18.

Wow, this is my favorite flower. They are so beautiful. Even they are so pricey, I think putting them in the room will be a nice decision!

Love these! Every year, the folks at the Flower Fields in Carlsbad (No. of San Diego) plant rows and rows of colorful ranuculus that can be seen miles away.

I used to live in San Diego and it is truly a sight to see. If you are ever around Carlsbad near springtime, definitely put that on your agenda.
