Stone and Air Plant Garden at Viva Terra

These antique stone pots from Viva Terra come with an arrangement of flowering Bromeliads, which need not much more than air to survive — hence the "air" part of the plant garden.

We love the light, airy feel of the pot arrangemet, especially since the pots themselves are solid stone.

Does this mean they're kill-proof? I can't seem to keep a poor plant alive in my apartment.

The stone pots are quite nice.In the UK an artist called Derek Jarman had a seashore place,and he used to grow flowers in a terrain remanisacent of these pots.But there was more a type of seashore shingle.But similar.

Air plants aren't kill proof. You're supposed to dunk them in water on a weekly basis (the larger plants definitely) and you'll have to make sure the water drains from the base where the leaves cluster together. I leave mine upside down for a hour before turning them over. Otherwise you rot them to death. Quickly.

If you're misting, make sure it's light and very fine mist, so it doesn't drip and accumulate in the base stem.
