When we posted earlier about the colors of this mural, we had no idea of the story (and homes) behind the project. It turns out that the building is a condo project called Monique Lofts, and the residents themselves commissioned the piece.
When we posted earlier about the colors of this mural, we had no idea of the story (and homes) behind the project. It turns out that the building is a condo project called Monique Lofts, and the residents themselves commissioned the piece.

The piece is a collaboration between “Scratchmaster” Joe Martinez and NKO, a local artist. The photo above is a rendering on the Seattle Free Wall, in the SODO district.

The condo complex itself is a converted warehouse, and houses a range of units from under 500 sq. ft., under $300K studios to 2000 sq. ft., over $1 million penthouse suites.

The mural project has been the focus of some degree of controversy on Slog due to the ghostly old painted signage the artwork is partially covering up.
