Recycled Coastal Allegiance Coasters

coast071509.jpgPunny but pretty cute, these coasters are all about your coastal allegiance (and presumably, your guests'). Made from recycled tires, they allow you to...

...choose your preference, be it the west coast (go, SF!) or the east coast. Having lived on both sides of the country, we know there are some serious differences between the two (as well as serious competition in some circles) but for a lighthearted way to celebrate where you come from or where your heart has taken you , these fit the bill.

Available at Elsewares, set of 4 (2 east and 2 west) for $38.

These are pretty funny! I guess you can't be offended about the lack of a Midwest option, because that wouldn't work as a pun.

On a micro, Midwestern scale, there is the set of Ohio River coasters [the river dividing Ohio and Kentucky] and the set of Vine Street coasters [the dividing line between the so-called East Side and West Side].

I love love coasters that DO something more than just protect furniture. They're a perfect excuse for a touch of color, whimsy, or message -- it's like an installation piece on your coffee table!

Last time I checked, the US was bounded by three coasts...

C'mon Midwesterners (at least those near the Great Lakes: North Coaster!

North Coast was a nickname for Cleveland when I was growing up. Now I live in Hawaii, which is surrounded by ocean. Am I an Infinity Coaster?

Sorry but having traveled to 38 of the continental and outer US states these are just a mere piccolo pete in the firework display of pop culture.

I'd rather see a set of coasters that have sentiments along the line of "Ive been to Heads and it was rad." or "My t*ts were in 2 of the 4 corners."

the entire country just has too much amazingness to limit it to the two coasts.

I love these!

(Although if I wanted to be as picky as some of the comments so far, I could point out that the East Coaster doesn't include all of New England)

@Emika: and the irony in that is that they're made in Maine!

Seriously, though, I love these. I recently moved from LA to NH/MA/VT (yeah, we've been all over the place recently) to be with the bf, who's a born-and-bred New Englander. These would be perfect for us!

(Except for the part where he hates using coasters. I say: tough!)

I have heard the Mississippi River referred to as the Third Coast - that would work on a coaster!

I think it's funny that so many people assumed those of us not on the west/east coast are automatically from the Midwest. I live in Idaho. Why does everyone always forget about The West? You know, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Utah, Nevada...where all those old western movies took place?
:-)
