Airplane Window at Uncommon Goods

11-24-08-panam.jpg

From the department of "I Can't Believe You Can Actually Buy That" comes this unlikely offering from Uncommon Goods: a Boeing 707 airplane window, retired from service to Pan Am airlines. And before you scoff at the limited application of such a piece in one's home, may we remind you of this house tour, after the jump...

We'd also love to see this singular salvage used as an actual window, or perhaps a room divider.

Uncommon Goods does some really cool stuff, to bad I can't afford any of it! I think my favorite is the US map made from state license plates.

I just sent this to a co-worker - This would be great hung on a track and used as a sliding door...

It's not big enough for a room divider--not at 20" by 30". I was disappointed--I thought it would be much bigger, esp. for $1500.

...then I guess he's going to have to road-trip to the Airplane Graveyard and get his own chunk of an old 747.

Frankly, a detached piece of fusilage kind of creeps me out. These homeowners are obviously braver than I am. But airplane design is really neat in a home setting. I'd love to see built-ins based on that aesthetic.
