thumbs up
Name: Jany
Location: Nyon, Switzerland
Type of Home: Apartment, owned
Color Inspiration: Mood and purpose of the room. I just switched my bedroom into the smallest room in my home, as I only sleep in it, it made more sense. I wanted to create a calm and zen atmosphere, so I opted for a plum color which goes well with my wooden floors and furniture.
Give Jany a THUMBS UP if you think this room belongs in the finals!

Color Inspiration continued:
Colors Used: The plum-color i used is a Latex-Color Custom-Mix, from a DIY-chain called Hornbach,. The number is 80.08.02
Color Tip: I've chosen a color-theme for each room in my home and Istick to it. I choose only main color, like the plum and two other color-shades to keep a coherent overall look and not to make it too "crowded".

I love that light fixture! And the colour...

Can you give some info on that light fixture? It's lovely.

I love the colors, but I wish the bed were a bit more exciting.

Looks nice.
It looks like there are gaps in the ceiling line. If your place is old and has bowed walls or plaster bulges, you can get a regular small flat brush from an art store and hand paint the line to look correct.

A lifeless bed in an empty room I don't believe is representative of colour as indicated by the contest.

I had to join just to give a thumbs-up to this room - I love how the monochromatic but strong colour leaves it feeling both cosy & relaxed.

It seems to me unfinished, but heading in an interesting direction. I'd want curtains in a bedroom, and the disconnect between the window and the bed disturbs me a lot (though there doesn't seem to be much alternative in that small room). And something else, some je ne sais quoi... maybe relief from all the plum.

Terrain at Styer's sells a similar type of light fixture, available at their new online store (if you don't live near the store in PA): http://shopterrain.com.

It needs something. It's too unfinished looking and not in a minimalist way. Curtains could be a nice touch, and the artwork needs to be balanced out. The bedding could be dressed up a bit more with some different color shams and maybe a throw, to give it a layered look.
Otherwise I like the color and can see that it's a challenging small space to work in.

I think it needs a complimentary or accent color somewhere. Saffron orange? Leafy green? Sky blue?

I love your little cat! Beautiful light fixture too. . . .

Unfortunately, i cannot tell the exact origin of the light fixture. I bought it from a restaurant where i've seen it as part of the decoration. I left my phone number to the waiter and the owner called me back a bit later to tell me that he still had two of these fixtures and that i could buy them if i want...
As for the for some of the commenters "unfinished" aspect, this room is finished, i like it the way it is and it is just how i wanted it to be: a calm environment to sleep with no districtions except for some artwork, that i love. Curtains are not my thing, i have shades instead.

I like many things of your room, the floor, the lamp... the colours are colours that I like, but I don't know if it like it lacks something to have the wow factor and I don't know what it is... , but it is a nice room.

I love and hate platform beds, they look great, but they hurt like hell when you hash your legs on them :(
