Name: Kate
Location: San Francisco, California
Type of Home: 2 Bedroom Rental House
Color Inspiration: As an artist, I am obsessed with color. I could spend all day looking at color! The inspiration for the room design is the tile base around the wood burning stove and my turquoise chair. We have a great landlord who let us...

Color Inspiration continued: ...paint the walls a lovely light blue-gray color and everything fell into place after that.
Colors Used: Afternoon Shade from Freshaire Choice Paint. It was important to have a paint with no VOCs because we have a baby. I don't know the name of the trim used in the sunporch… it was there when we moved in.
Color Tip: I'm pretty conservative when it comes to paint colors and large furniture pieces. I like clean lines and neutral colors. Bring in colorful pillows, artwork, and plants to liven up your space. It's easier to change your artwork than the paint on your walls.

Such a soothing and restful place spiced with great color accents in the tiles and artwork. I'd like to spend time there, along with the baby and the dog.

Great job, Kate! Having spent plenty of time in this actual room, and been smitten with various items (blue chair, baby, dog! - not in that order) and the general ambiance, I'd say you've represented it well. I also always love your arrangements of books by color.

Hooray for the baby and the dog! Rooms are for living, and this fabulous living room is missing only the other darling dwellers: mama designer, partner papa and two fat cats.

I don't think having a baby in the picture is cheating at all! It's amazing that the house is so organized and looks that great and cool with an infant. It truly shows that the house is a happy home. LOVE IT!
