Roundup: Tasteful Pet Decor

We all love our pets but any kind of pet decor can be a slippery slope to tchotchkeville. Here are some ways to show the love for your creatures around the house with style.

1. A simplistic drawing of a your favorite breed is just fun and the neutral color keeps it modern. Leroy Pillow from Coolcosas, $65

2. A felt appliqué pillow customized from a photo of your pet is an updated version of the needlepoint pillow. Custom pillow from Handmade by Boni, $75

3. Silhouette bookends are sleek in yellow and black. Puppy Bookends from Pylones, $25

4. Handmade salt and pepper shakers are just the right amount of kitsch. French Bulldog Salt and Pepper Set from Centralcrafts, $25

5. The hand painted ceramic mug is cleverly designed with the head protruding as a handle. French Bulldog Mug from Centralcrafts, $25

I'm a HUGE dachshund lover & my mother-in-law actually got me a great print of a famous doxie painting- it's hanging in the living room now :D

I always like it when there's more of a connection to your art than 'i like it.'

I love these. I featured the Aaron Stewart pillows (pic 1) over the summer--they are hysterical! You can buy a family set and they have cats too!

The bad thing is these website have no search feature. My husband and I have an Itlalian Greyhound and don't want to have to search through every category for our breed. The pillows & S&P shakers are insanely adorable, though.

lol! Ana- thanks for pointing it out, but it's already been tracked down by my radar & put on a list of things my husband can check out if he needs to buy me a gift! lol :P

Would be appropriate for today too- my pup went it to get spayed today!

I got an adorable carved wooden cat in a market in Jamaica for my parents. If it hadn't been a present for them, I would happily display it in my own place!

hahaha! I like it alexandre! I was thinking of doing something similar but with a cat- my husband wants one, but we can't get one with our dog & chinchilla!

Now, # 2 is an animal needle point that I can get behind! Not like that awful squirrel roadkill from last week :)

Roundup: Tasteful Pet Decor even in this case, taste is in the eye of the beholder. Do. Not. Like.

Most decor that centers around house pets and farm animals is almost always tacky.

But of course that is my opinion.

It is so difficult to find stylish pet accessories. There are times I have needed to buy something for a gift but have had to settle. I would gladly gift the French Bulldog mug or the Bulldog Salt and Pepper set to any animal lover. They look well made and I love the small details, ie. the protruding head, it's adorable.
