Easels as Home Decor

Artwork is often created on easels, but what about displaying it there, too? Here, we take a look at a few home decor elements inspired by the artist's easel...

Easels are a way to bring display off of the wall - stand one in a corner, beside a chair, or place a small one on a bookshelf to display a special book.

I don't know about anyone else, but the easel as a TV stand really bothers me. I'm a painter, and I definitely want to separate my creative space from my media space. I can't appreciate the reference to the screen as art.

When I see this, it just makes me want to say, "Get out from behind your television and go see some art!"

YES to easels for art, NO to easels for televisions.

I like the easel idea. It's also an element in the Vicente Wolf project shown in October's Metropolitan Home. It's a different take on a stand, which has the advantage of being mobile and adjustable. Also it's a tiny wink at Duchamp. http://tinyurl.com/Metropolitan-Home
