Painted floors have the power to completely transform a space. We've seen them on Apartment Therapy in every color of the rainbow (literally!), but these examples take it a step further by including patterns and intricate details...

I'm almost always a fan of painted floors (the black striped ones in the fisherman's cottage from a few weeks ago were to die for), but I doubt I'd be gutsy enough to go for it. I think the fifth one here is so lovely. I'll put it in my inspiration photos, for when I'm feeling adventurous...

This painted carpet by Toronto-based decorative artist Robert Sangster was done for a client with an elderly husband: "She was afraid of him tripping over area rugs yet the furniture needed something to be βonβ so I painted them a carpet.β http://stylenorth.ca/blog/2009/05/nothing-faux-about-sangsters-expertise/

I love the checkerboard! We had white painted wood floors in a few rooms of the older house where I grew up. I've always loved the look.

i love these painted floors! except #1, that is a bit much for me. i've been pleading with my landlord to let me do something like #5 on our terrace floor. so far, no luck LOL.
