Layered Rugs

033109 lost art rugs.jpgOur Chicago site asked what you thought of layered rugs last month, and the responses were, well, mixed. We thought this grouping of rugs arranged by the ever stylish ones at Lost Art Salon might change your tune, though...

There are several styles of rugs going on here, but the colors are more uniting than those in the other post. We think it makes the room feel rich and textured. What do you think of the look?

I have layered rugs in my house. Layered bedding with various patterns is fun and awesome. Why not rugs?

Layered flatweave rugs look great, particularly when united by a common palette. I've layered several Turkish rugs in my own living room apartment and get complements on the look all the time.

The Domino decorating book has a picture of layered Moroccan rugs combined with rustic modern furniture that looks stunning, although my house looks more like the above - like I inherited my furniture from a well-traveled eccentric aunt.

A lovely room to be sure including the gorgeous rugs, but I stand by my feelings on layered rugs - I can trip on thin air, so this is a disaster waiting to happen for me.

A friend has a huge collection of Oriental rugs. He doesn't layer them, he piles them. Very comfortable for lounging.

My landlords have layered rugs. It's a great look when done correctly. And of course the Lost Art Salon does it correctly, because it's the Lost Art Salon and made of win.

I'm down with one rug on top of another. But I prefer to keep it a bit more simple than in that particular room.

as somebody said above..."It's alot more than rugs that are layered in that room..."

that overall sense of piles of stuff tend to set the tone for the space so it just seems logical to have lots of rugs layered about

Looks messy. It's got to be hard to clean and you know that room has an odor with all those vintage rugs! Less is more.

i think it's a really cool look, makes me want to go grab a good book and a tea and settle in for a long read. however i dont know it it'll be happening in my house anytime soon... dont you need to be able to afford 15 rugs first? haha i think its kinda fun though!

Layered rugs DO look really great. Being that I am OCD and prefer clean lines, stepping on textured layers of rugs would drive me absolutely nuts.
