Ting Studios Vintage Belt Floor Mat from Branch

8-19-belt_mat.jpgOn first glance we thought this mat was made of wood, and liked it a lot. When we saw the vintage belts, complete with the holes, it got even cooler.

Yes, it's a little pricey, but it's will probably last forever, so maybe we can just think about it as an investment.

Available from Branch for $668.

Wow, I lived in an art loft above a sweatshop factory that made belts in Williamsburg. I loved the smell of leather coming from the floors. This is really lovely.

I have had that floor mat on my wish list for a couple years now. I decided a better option would be to collect vintage belts and eventually make my own, so I always keep my eye out for good leather belts when thrifting.

However, if I were allowed to spend an excessive amount of money on a floor mat, that would be it. :)

That seems like it could be a fun diy project, complete with a trip to the thrift store.

Kimber- neat idea. How are you going to put it together?

Great colors and textures. Hmm... My DYI calculator says to hit the thrift shops and email friends for contributions, then after cutting them to specification, glue them to something skid-resistant. Then spend the difference in savings on something fun. (or pay a few bills - okay!)

Hasn't this been posted once or twice before? Nonetheless, a nifty DIY. If anyone gives it a shot, they should send in the results :)

Yeah... how many times are you going to post this thing? A mat made of leather strips. Wow. Not.

I was wondering how many comments would get posted before people started complaining. This could be a drinking game.

Hmm, on second thought, I wondering if I'd like to try this belt idea as a wainscoting on the little wall between the closet and bathroom door in my groovy retro bedroom, perhaps installed on an angle as was popular with paneling back then.
