SF reader Holly wrote in to let us know about a store moving sale: In Your Element at 16th and Kansas in Potrero Hill had signs on its windows Wednesday saying that it was moving. Yesterday those signs were down but there were big pink sale tags on everything in the store. Worth checking out I bet. So we called In Your Element...

just went over here to check it out (it's across the street from my office). Not much to write home about, although there is a nice bamboo mattress I might be in the market for if it wasn't for TAX DAY (aka day of gloom). There's a couple of cool light fixtures, but overall nothing that blew me away.
The place next door (Monument) is where all the truly sweet stuff hangs out. This is their showroom, and their retail shop full of covet-y mid-century goodness is on Valencia. http://monument.1stdibs.com/search.php

Saw the post after the fact and decided to stop by- the sale is definitely still going on. When I first walked in, I noticed right away everything was a modern contemporary style. Theyâve got cool art and lamps, but if youâre looking for a mecca of funky retro accessories, you wonât find much of that here.
I was most impressed by the design, many of the couches and tables fold or move on tracks to provide multiple functions. Very, very clever furniture. Plus everyone was really helpful with my questions. If youâre in the market for a classic modern look and need some new furniture, this is a great place to come check out and get a deal.
I would definitely check out the website first to make sure the style is up your alley:
