Sketch Tuesday at 111 Minna

Sketch Tuesday is an event like no other - artists and art-lovers gather together in a bar for some on-the-spot art making and buying. Every third Tuesday of the month 111 Minna hosts the event, and it's just what you'd expect - lots of drawing, painting, and drinking; in other words, a very San Francisco night out.

Inspired by Southern Exposure's Monster Drawing Rally, Sacha Eckes founded Sketch Tuesdays as a way for local artists and art buyers to meet each other in a relaxed setting, as well as a place for local artists to connect with each other. The work is always extremely reasonably priced - most pieces are for sale for under $50.

Artists set up around large tables in the middle of the room - when pieces are done they're pinned to a wall with makeshift price tags. The artists price their own work and keep all proceeds, making for a very direct exchange between artist and buyer.

The next Sketch Tuesday is scheduled for April 21. For more information contact 111 Minna Gallery.
