This Saturday and Sunday, DWR is holding a Sample Sale in Palo Alto. It will include "Samples we never carried, props from photo shoots, high quality floor samples, all on sale. Find unique and classic pieces that you might not have seen before."
During the last sample sale, DWR management was nice enough to let us go to the front of the long line of people waiting to get inside, and take some photos. Here they are, just to give you an idea of what you might find this weekend.
More information about all of the sales -- there are also ones in (well, near) New York and Cincinnati -- is

I have gone to the DWR ware house in secaucus thinking I can afford some of the furniture that I saw at the Hudson street. I will never go to the ware house ever again. They haven't lessened the price very much. They grow more beyond and it can never reach.
Their customers would be absolutely loaded
I went to a Sample Sale at the PA location (maybe the same one AT photographed?), and I got there around 9:45am. Line was already well in place, unfortunately. Since the shop is really small -- totally different from the Warehouse Sale they used to hold in Union City -- all the good stuff was long gone by the time I made it through the door. The only thing I remember still being available were some nursery and kids' items. So my advice if you go on Saturday: Get there by 9:30am. Earlier if you can -- and grab a coffee from Coupa Cafe to keep you company.
I find the name extremely ironic...."Design Within Reach"........whose reach???? Not mine!
There was a looooooooooooong thread at the NY Apartment Therapy about DWR.
Personally, I like DWR. I've never been to their warehouse sales nor do I have any interest in doing so. (I'm not really an outlet person - I prefer online shopping).
I have been able to find really really good deals on their website sales section. I bought a coffee and side table for 150 and 75 each, marked down from 500 and 400 each. Also, I bought a noguchi table lamp on sale for 20 percent off.
