Weekend Outing: Historical Kitchen Tour
Portland, Oregon

Just in time for the last day of kitchen month, tickets are now available for the Architectural Heritage Center's 11th Annual Kitchen Revival Tour. In past years the tour has included seven or eight well-preserved, restored or renovated specimens of historically accurate kitchens, and this year promises to offer no less — with the addition of Pittock Mansion, a turn-of-the-century architectural jewel.

The kitchens aren't all grand or antiquated; rather, the tour has a two-fold purpose that aims to both educate visitors on how the kitchen has evolved from Queen Anne to Mid-Century style, and also to offer ideas for affordable ways to update an old kitchen while still maintaining its original character.

The pictures above are all from the 2007 tour.

  • Saturday, April 18
  • 10am – 4pm
  • Tour begins at the Architectural Heritage Center, 701 S.E. Grand Ave., Portland
  • Pre-registration is encouraged; tickets can be purchased in advance here or in person at the AHC on tour day.
  • $25 nonmembers, $20 members
  • 503-231-7264

Love the school house light with the red stripe in the first picture! I'm looking for one like that!

The top picture looks like a 50s kitchen with a very modern dishwasher. Not very historically accurate. But still a nice looking kitchen nonetheless.

I would like to live with any one of them, but I do love the colors in the first kitchen.

Does anyone by any chance have more pictures of the first kitchen? Not only am I in lurve with it, but from what I can see, the layout is quite close to my kitchen (which needs some reno love). I've done some searching to no avail. Anyone? I know it's a long shot.

*crossing fingers*

Does anyone have an oven like the one in the second picture (not exact, just that style)? I've seen new versions of them and I love the way they look but I'm wondering if they are functional/energy efficient.

Candice - contact the Architectural Heritage Center using the link above. They may be able to put you in touch with the owners, or at least give your contact info to the owners for them to make the contact. Can't hurt to try.
