Forget your hankering for a modern Gaggenau or Viking, what could be better than vintage??
We found Dream Stoves while googling for stove pics and were almost immediately sold. These old stoves are beautiful and so well made that they last, last, last.
Dream Stoves specializes in stoves from the 1920's through 50's. They sell small stoves, unrestored stoves and whole kitchens. They have info on antique appliances and forums as well. This is a great resource.
As for price: "our current pricing ranges from $2,500 - $15,000." They also restore, sell and ship stoves nationwide.
All of the stoves on their site are sold on a first come, first served basis, and the work looks primo.

I had a O'KEEFE & MERRITT when I live in a flat in the Richmond. I LOVED it, except the clock did not work. Everything else, including the oven, worked great. And this on a unrestored stove. They are very sturdy and clean up well, never had a nick on the coating/paint like I have now on a new stove.
I had an old O&M cooker in my SF house. It even had an incinerator in it, for burning small household rubbish. What no one mentions is that these old beauties don't have self-cleaning ovens. As someone who is happy to say she has never in her life cleaned an oven, I was happy to ditch that O&M for a self-cleaner.
There is a place in Berkeley that refurbishes and sells these. I can't remember the name of the store...it's on the corner of Gilman and the street that Picante's is on. They have quite a selection.
