Paper Source is the best place we've found in San Francisco so far for a wide selection of paper (and really, the name says it all). Our imagination runs wild when we go in, thinking of all the ways we could use their products to spruce up our place.

Obviously, the store has plenty of paper, but we also were taken by the many bolts of ribbon, plain boxes waiting to decorated, stamps, and more. 4-18-08 paper2.jpg

The staff seems very helpful and informative, and they have an area in-store for working on crafting projects. All in all a great source of inspiration and a fun place to spend a few hours putting a project together. 4-18-08 paper 3.jpg

Yeah, I love Paper Source too. They have lots of great and very unique stuff, but they are just way too expensive...

Another good online source is Mr. French. I had a book making class a year ago, and they were a great resource for paper.

Ugh. My fiance has bought way too much stuff for the wedding from the bevhills location. It's ridiculously overpriced. especially since she's designed better thank you cards, invites, and such herself. i don't like this place at all. boo. want my money back. (can you tell i'm the bitter husband to be seeing his savings go bye bye on the wedding.? :P )

i use sheets of their decorative paper and bookcloth to put in frames and then "float" prints over that. its amazingly cheap and looks a lot cooler than matting.

I used to love PaperSource - way back when. But the PaperSource I remember was very focused towards artists, bookbinders, and designers - and less about cheap tchotchkes. I still shop there if I need something specific - but over the years their selection of large sheets of unusual papers has waned and become the same standards you see everywhere. While their art paper selection has been shrinking the little gee-gaw selection exploded, as did lots of pre-packaged stuff that is, as posted above, expensive and generic. You used to be able to find specific bookbinding tools and materials, now you get pre-cut bookboard in one thickness, pre-sewn journal blanks, and more little knick-knacks. Their prices are about standard for a lot of the art papers, which means you can find other sources that have bigger selections. Sad :(

I think of Paper Source like most of retail: like going to a museum of contemporary artifacts. I get to ogle and enjoy, but I don't have to use my money or fill up my tiny apartment!

I've had to avoid 4th street location because when i go in there i walk out broke.

too expensive, but im addicted, so i am recovering by staying away.
