On Sunday, we spent some time at the International terminal at SFO waiting on a friend's plane. If you're not prepared, the airport can be a pretty tedious place to try and kill time. But we gotta say, the revamped International terminal is pretty awesome. After downing a tasty Italian soda at the food court, we did a little window shopping in the SFMOMA store. If you're in need of some last minute souvenirs to bring to friends or family, this is your store. And really, who needs another puffy-paint "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" sweatshirt?
We love a good museum store as much as the next guy and the airport terminal version of the downtown store does not disappoint. While they have a nice display of postcards and books from the current Frida Kahlo exhibit, this outpost is heavy on the travel-related gear and San Francisco-focused items.
Load your loved ones up with postcards and promises to write or drown your goodbye tears with pretty scarves, coffee table books and local artisan jewelry.
We were quite happy to see the store bustling with curious travelers...so many languages being spoken and all of them leaving with small trinkets from their time spent in our foggy city. Best part is that you don't need a boarding pass, the store is located in the main terminal before the security gate.
My parents passed through there en route home. They found something that they loved and wanted to buy more once they got home and found out the item was a terrific buy. MOMA NY didn't have it, so sent an email to the SFO Airport MOMA.
Instant response, requested 7 more plus small plastic bags and, voila, rec'd them. Excellent customer service!
