Walk down 24th Street in Noe Valley and you are bound to see plenty of stores filled with gifts and tchochkes, but Urban Nest is a step above and beyond. Here you can find the perfect gift for a housewarming, baby shower, birthday... pretty much any occasion. However, unlike many similar places in the area, the store manages to feel calm and inviting, rather than overwhelming.

We attribute this in part to owner Heather's ability to group items around the store in easily digestible and beautifully rendered vignettes, allowing the eye to wander without feeling immediate sensory overload.

6-13-08 urban nest 4.jpg There's an undeniable Anthropologie feel, but we found the prices to be a bit better. And the website states that they aim to find beautiful pieces that are also affordable.
